“Wesson”
Multi-disciplinary creative based in Detroit, Michigan
Merging my family’s history into a singular identity was no small feat.
My name, Scott “Wesson” Everett, reflects the rich heritage of both my maternal and paternal lines, shaping the artist and designer I am today.Based in Detroit, Michigan, my work spans digital portraits and editorial illustrations, characterized by vibrant, high-contrast compositions and abstract designs. My art delves into themes of culture, Black America, social justice, hip-hop, science, and 90s nostalgia, influenced by artistic icons like Caravaggio, Miro, Pablo Picasso, Kehinde Wiley, and Norman Lewis.
I’ve collaborated with notable clients such as the John Templeton Foundation, How I Built This podcast, and NPR Radio, aiming to engage audiences deeply through visual storytelling.
In my role as a lecturer at the University of Michigan and through my background from the College of Creative Studies, I am committed to mentoring emerging talents in art and design, integrating my expertise in illustration, design research, and UX/UI design.
As “Wesson,” my journey is ongoing, driven by a desire to push creative limits, provoke thought, and foster meaningful dialogues through my art.
